The most senior role in the Civil Service is to change following a review.
The government will now look to recruit a Chief Executive Officer and see an end to the role of Chief Secretary.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan announced a review into the role and responsibilities of the Chief Secretary in the May sitting of Tynwald.
The Chief Executive Officer will 'pro-actively lead and support chief officers in government departments.'
If Tynwald agree to the changes at the January sitting, recruitment will begin immediately.
