A backbench MHK says government performance would improve if the salary boost politicians receive for being a department member was scrapped.
It’s one a number of proposals in an independent report on the financial package available to Tynwald members.
Under the recommendations, Manx politicians would be paid a higher basic rate of pay, but no longer receive more for becoming a member of a department.
Douglas East member Chris Robertshaw argues this would see the role of scrutiny given an equal footing to that of the executive.
