Ramsey commissioner Lawrie Hooper has announced he'll be standing as an MHK for the town.
He's declared as a Liberal Vannin Party candidate ahead of September's General Election saying he can't sit by and "ignore the scale of the challenges facing the Island".
He says local services should be provided at a local level and national services provided - and paid for - by a national government.
