The man threatened a shop assistant with a taser gun at around 9.40pm on Wednesday at Lower Newby’s on Glen Falcon Road.
She was then forced to hand over around £70 in cash to him.
Police want to speak to anyone who recognises the jacket worn by the suspect or who saw a man matching his description in the area during the evening.
Anyone with information can contact Police Headquarters or Crimestoppers.
