A bandaged Mark Cavendish was back in action yesterday for stage two of the Tour of Qatar.
Things haven’t quite been going his way this season, with 2 crashes and a low placing in January’s Tour Down Under.
As he and his HTC Highroad team were preparing for a bunch sprint finish a heavy cross-wind threw them off course right at the end of the 135km stage.
Cav had shown promise but eventually finished outside the top ten in 12th place.
He currently sits in 87th place, way over 13 minutes behind the leader.
Today's stage 3 will take the teams on a 150km ride from Al Wakra to Mesaieed.
