Castletown Town Commissioners have announced that today's Christmas lights switch on is postponed until Sunday.
The situation with the wind means a number of the structures required for the event cannot be safely erected.
The Commissioners said that the event is currently planned for tomorrow and will issue an update when they hear from the committee.
The square is still open for parking.
