A cargo plane plunged around 3,000 feet in under 30 seconds as it approached the Isle of Man, a safety investigation has found.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch says the Cessna aircraft was flying to Ronaldsway from East Midlands Airport just before 7am on November 23 last year.
The pilot encountered severe turbulence and lost control eight miles southwest of Castletown as he approached the airport to land.
He managed to pull up at 1,200 feet and diverted back to the East midlands - the AAIB report into the incident says it underlines the importance of recovery training for pilots.
