By-election trial gets underway today

The Douglas-East by-election trial starts today.

The court case is expected to last more than two months hearing from more than a hundred witnesses.

Seven defendants are charged with a number of offences including theft, conspiracy, forgery and corrupt election practices.

A jury of three men and four women were sworn in last week.

They’ll be going over the events surrounding the vote back in May 2010.
