Isle of Man Tourism Director Rod Nipper has said he’s expecting a very busy and exciting year ahead, with a number high profile events sure to attract the visitors.
Numbers for sailings and hotel bookings have seen a sharp increase from this time last year for the TT fortnight – this is attributed to the Mountain Course celebrating its centenary year.
There will also be the Commonwealth Youth Games in September, with 71 nations descending on the Island, all making use of the hotels.
Reflecting back on 2010 the Tourism Director said although the official figures are yet to be published he is confident the Island performed well in the face of numerous challenges.
It’s thought the volcanic ash cloud and snow and ice had a significant affect on the tourism numbers.
With things looking much more promising for this year however an appeal has gone out to the Manx public to play their part and ensure the visitors have an enjoyable experience whilst on the Island.
