Union meeting minutes released under freedom of information laws show drivers told Bus Vannin the recorded announcement reminding people to say hello as buses cross the Fairy Bridge in Ballasalla was disliked by drivers.
Minutes from a meeting held in September show they asked for the recordings to be disabled.
However, Director of Transport Ian Longworth said the announcements lighten the mood on buses and are appreciated by Manx passengers.
