Bus drivers vote on lunch breaks today

Bus drivers will be balloted today in the next step in a row over pay.

The head of the union representing drivers, UNITE, has said negotiations with the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure will restart immediately if an agreement can’t be reached.

It follows weeks of negotiations with drivers and the department of community, culture and leisure.

Government has proposed the equivalent of a 12 per cent pay cut to the drivers' annual wage and it was alleged by the union they were threatened with the sack if they declined.

Possible strike action hasn't been ruled out, although Eric Holmes says he hopes this won't be the case.
