Minister Anderson has reassured the public that the replacement will still be a highly skilled breast surgeon, but will also be required to contribute to the general surgery on-call rota.
Health Minister David Anderson has addressed the concerns
currently surrounding the future of breast cancer care on the Isle of Man.
In the House of Keys last week it was flagged up that the
Island’s only specialised breast surgeon was to be replaced by a general one.
Minister Anderson has reassured the public that the
replacement will still be a highly skilled breast surgeon, but will also be
required to contribute to the general surgery on-call rota.
It was revealed that cases of breast cancer had seen a sharp
40% increase in the past year.
