The Department of Education and Children says it's catching growing numbers of employers breaking the rules on child workers.
A freedom of information request from 3FM asked how often the department inspects registers of young workers held by companies and how often it finds something wrong.
The department says it doesn't keep records before 2015, when 11 employers out of 35 had broken the law - in 2016 that figure rose to 26 breaches out of 96 checks.
So far this year, seven employers broke the rules - the department says most of those caught didn't know the regulations and just three breaches have led to formal warnings.
