3FM spoke to Joanna Warburton, general manager at ManxSPCA, who gave us tips on how to protect not just cats and dogs, but other pets and even wildlife:
The MSPCA also recommends keeping cats and dogs inside, creating a space for them to hide- stressing it's important not to tell them off if they appear upset.
Rabbits and guinea pigs that live outside should have their hutches partially covered, and Joanna suggests staying with any horses or livestock to keep them calm.
More information can be found on the ManxSPCA website.
