A local bird rescuing charity says its 'horrified' after a protected bird was shot and killed earlier this month.
It comes following the Wildlife charity being called out to Ballure in Ramsey where they found the injured bird - which died shortly after.
After a veterinary examination, it was discovered the young female had been shot in the side with an air rifle - and would have suffered for some time - having sustained broken bones and therefore being unable to move.
MWBA says the bird was in a very good condition, until her life was 'brutally ended'.
It is currently illegal to shoot a sparrowhawk or any bird of prey on Island.
The charity know wants to bring the person who did this to justice - if you have any information you're being asked to contact Biodiversity Officers at DEFA on 685835 or Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111.
