The ACU regret to announce the death of 34 year old racer Derek Brien from County Meath in Ireland, he was killed following a high speed incident at Gorse Lea in lap 2 of the Supersport TT race this morning.
Derek was an experienced road racer who first competed on the Isle of Man in the 2004 Manx Grand Prix, he had a highest placing of 13th in the 2010 Supersport Race.
He was described as a talented road racer and achieved a number of notable career highlights; he leaves behind a partner, Sarah.
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
