A biker from Onchan who narrowly avoided a head-on crash has been spared a driving ban.
Mervyn Donnell of Seaview Road changed his plea and admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court the 54 year old had been riding from Kirk Michael to Ballaugh shortly before 7.30pm on July 26 last year.
He overtook a car near Alpine Corner on the TT course, ignoring an oncoming vehicle.
The court heard he’d narrowly managed to fit between the cars, in an incident which was caught on a witness’s dashcam.
And when he was interviewed by police, he said he couldn’t remember the incident before he was confronted by the video evidence.
Magistrates fined Donnell £600 and ordered him to pay £800 costs, along with putting eight penalty points on his licence.
