More than 99 per cent of people who responded to a consultation back legalising cannabis for medical purposes.
The Department of Health and Social Care has published the results of a consultation which was held earlier this year.
Out of 3,285 responses, just 0.8 per cent opposed the move although 62 per cent said it should be restricted to over-18s.
And the majority said the drug should be available through accredited outlets.
