The Treasury's revealed it takes 57 days to process a pension claim, but just one day for income support.
The figures were given in response to a question for written answer in the House of Keys this week.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked Treasury Minister Alf Cannan how long it took on average to process claims for each benefit.
Mr Cannan said retirement pensions take the longest to complete but said information is sometimes needed from UK authorities, leading to delays.
