The Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that the Ben-my-Chree lost control in Douglas Harbour and collided with a fishing boat.
Two fire crews from Douglas were called out to attend the scene at 6:07pm - where they assisted Steam Packet staff in tying the boat alongside the pier so that works could be carried out.
The larger vessel's stern made contact with Battery Pier and a fishing boat at its mooring.
It was found that the ship and the fishing boat only suffered superficial damage.
The ship was checked by divers for signs of damage to the propellers and steering.
It was then relocated to Victoria Pier using a tug boat - where passengers disembarked.
