Axe Factor campaign reveals the average MHK costs nearly £80,000 a year

Campaign asks the question are Manx politicians worth their price tag?

A campaign launched on the Island this week is asking the question, are Manx politicians worth their price tag?

The TUC launched the campaign yesterday afternoon outside the Legislative Offices and say they’re endeavouring to give both their members and the public the information needed to determine if they’re getting value for money from their elected MHK’s.

Operating under the name the ‘Axe Factor’ they’ve estimated that the average member of Tynwald costs close to £80,000 per year.

President of the Trade Council Angela Moffatt told 3FM that Axe Factor came about following a request from their union members who wanted a clearer picture of things ahead of the general election in September.
