Residents are being warned of a new scam where con artists threaten legal action against potential victims.
The constabulary says it's received reports of people getting automated phonecalls from scammers claiming to be from the 'tax division', saying the target is under investigation and then threatens the person with legal proceedings.
Officers go on to say the scammers try to get people to press the number '1', but locals are being warned if they do this the criminals will try and steal money by getting your bank details.
Authorities add the Island's Tax Department will never contact you in this way and if you're ever in doubt about a call simply hang up, and then contact the organisation using known details from a genuine source.
