The Department of Infrastructure says it will consider allowing local authorities to buy rundown properties on the Island if their owners won't repair them.
In the House of Keys this week Minister Ray Harmer faced questions on the issue from North Douglas MHK David Ashford.
Mr Ashford claimed people living next door to such buildings were being forced to pay for damage caused by their neighbours' negligence.
