Almost £18.5 million has been spent sending patients for mental health treatment in the UK since 2020.
That’s according to health minister Claire Christian, answering a written Tynwald question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson.
Of the 38 individual patients who were transferred, eight were 18 years old or younger.
Ms Christian explained that off-island admissions are usually specialised cases, such as prison transfers or those ordered by a court.
