Police responded to a serious incident in Port Cornaa on Monday evening, where one person was seriously injured.
A suspect was detained by armed officers and an investigation is ongoing.
The incident followed a manhunt in the north of the Island for a high-risk missing man, during which the public were advised to secure their homes and not to approach to male if seen.
Authorities have urged people not to speculate and to avoid the area while enquiries continue.
