Two parishes in the South of the Island could become one later this year, if Tynwald approves plans to do so.
Infrastructure Minister, Ray Harmer MHK, will ask court members to allow Rushen and Arbory to merge into a single district when politicans meet for the next Tynwald sitting on Tuesday, January 21.
If given the go ahead, it would come into effect from May 1 with hopes having one larger authority in the area will improve services for residents there.
It comes after the respective chairs of both Rushen and Arbory agreed in principle to the idea in September last year.
