Automatic Number Plate Recognition is expected to be fully rolled out across the Island's ports soon.
That's according to the government's latest update on border security, which says the legislation to allow the technology is now in place.
The introduction of the tech first began in 2025.
Government says the move comes amid increased intelligence sharing with UK police, the National Crime Agency and the Garda in Ireland.
