Animal charities want new laws against animal cruelty

Animal charities are pleading for new laws to be introduced after a rise in the number of cruelty cases on the Island.

Next week a Tynwald Select Committee will consider introducing animal welfare legislation - similar to that already in existence in the UK. 
 
Margaret Mansfield is from the ManxSPCA - she says there is a very real problem here: 
 
 
The charity says greater powers would allow earlier intervention and give clear guidelines about what does, and does not, constitute cruelty.
