Almost one emergency call per minute during floods

Police say they received almost 1,200 calls in a single day during last week's floods.

Officers took to Twitter to reveal 1,189 people called the Emergency Services Joint Control Room last Wednesday.

Extreme weather conditions around the Island after persistent heavy rain saw a number of roads completely flooded.

Of the calls, 74 were directly for the 999 service.
