A Douglas man has been fined £150 after trying to 'feed the swans' in the early hours of the morning.
Police found 55-year-old Christopher Mcevoy drunk in a public place on January 16th.
At Douglas Courthouse earlier this week he admitted the offence.
Officers were called to Mcevoy's home on James Street just after midnight to check on his welfare - they found him drinking from a two-litre bottle of whiskey.
It was the third time in a week that they'd responded to concerns that Mcevoy was attempting to harm himself.
Two hours later officers saw Mcevoy leaving his home - when they stopped him he was trying to walk to the quayside and was described as 'nonsensical'.
Passing sentence Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it appeared Mcevoy had been arrested for his own safety.
She ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £125 and imposed a 12-month licensing ban that prohibits him from purchasing or being sold alcohol.
