The Steam Packet Company says the current estimated cost of the Manxman spending time in dry dock and undergoing repairs is around £5 million, but the bill will be covered from the company’s reserves.
Parts are expected to arrive back in the UK before the vessel can be reassembled and recommissioned.
The company says the costs are being met directly from its reserves and will not be funded by the government.
It is expected that the flagship vessel will return to service in late November following sea trials.
