A man from Anagh Coar who was stopped by police on Christmas Day has been fined £500.
Peter Kevin Ross of Lheannag Park appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse, charged with having an invalid driving licence and no insurance.
38 year old Ross pleaded guilty to both offences - a charge of failing to produce his insurance wasdropped by prosecutor Hazel Carroon.
The court heard officers stopped Ross in Onchan after spotting a faulty light on his Nissan Micra, and computer checks showed his licence had run out nine days earlier.
His advocate told magistrates Ross thought he’d be covered by the insurance policy on his works van, and he’d simply failed to check when his licence ran out.
Ross was fined £500 and ordered to pay £50 costs, as well as having six penalty points imposed on his licence.
