A man who burst into his ex-girlfriend's home and punched her new boyfriend has been sentenced to probation and community service.
Jonathan James Elliott of Tynwald Road in Willaston admitted assault and damaging property when he appeared at Douglas Courthouse this week.
The 25 year old went to the woman's home in March and attacked a man because of "jealousy and paranoia".
The court heard he'd been in a relationship with the woman for seven years and barged into the house when he found her with a new man.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said the attack was unprovoked and Elliott's victim hadn't deserved to be punched.
She noted a previous conviction for a domestic incident in 2015, and said "I do not consider this in any way to be a minor blip".
Mrs Hughes ordered Elliott to carry out 80 hours of community service and put him on probation for 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay £294 compensation and £300 in prosecution costs.
