£2 million saved by centralising service

Government has saved almost £2 million in the last two years by centralising its procurement service.

Officers from different departments were brought together in April 2011 to try and ensure better value for taxpayers’ money.

The team was also tasked with improving standards and transparency in respect of the government tender process and award of contracts.

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says government spends a considerable amount of money on things so it needs to be efficient:
