Minister Gawne says costly scheme is money well spent on an essential project
The multi million pound scheme to replace the existing fire pump system on Battery Pier, Douglas is expected to be completed and ready for use by July of this year.
The new facility is being built to replace the existing pump house, which has been in operation for 30 years.
The age of the existing system was the determining factor in a replacement being needed.
It’s been a joint effort to get the new facility up and running, including Manx Gas, Manx Petroleums, the Health & Safety at Work Inspectorate, and the Fire and Rescue Service.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne spoke to 3FM about the costly scheme, saying it’s going to be money well spent on an essential project.
