With the ferry cancellations yesterday Isle of Man Post Office are now dealing with a backlog of mail intended to reach their recipients before Christmas.
The post office teams are working through the weekend with Royal Mail to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.
As it stands there are over 150,000 items still in the postal system for addresses on Island.
Although there has been a drop off in numbers of Christmas cards being sent packet and parcel volumes have shown a significant rise.
By Christmas Day it’s anticipated the Post Office will have delivered over 60,000 more packets and parcels compared with last year.
