A man’s walked free from court after prosecutors dropped a case relating to a burglary which happened almost 15 years ago.
Eamon Martin Moore of Cooil Drive in Douglas appeared at Douglas Courthouse before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
The 35 year old faced one count of burgling a property on Hope Street on June 27, 2004.
However, prosecutor Hazel Carroon said because the case was so long ago, vital evidence was so old she didn’t feel a fair trial could still be held.
She told the hearing it was no longer in the public interest to continue the case, and so she would offer no evidence.
The charge was formally dismissed and Mr Moore’s advocate Jerry Carter made no application for costs.
