13 people receive hefty fines for tax return offences

The Douglas Magistrates court have issued a run down of the punishments being handed out for those who failed to comply with tax return requirements.

13 people from around the Island have received hefty fines for failing to submit their returns at the correct time, with the charges ranging from £500 to £125.

2 companies incurred £450 and £375 fines respectively for failure to pay National Insurance contributions for employees. 

A further 19 companies received £100 or £70 fines for failing to provide wage records when directed to do so.

Where necessary defendants have been told to issue their tax returns within one month.
