£1 million to be generated from new film

Castletown is one of the main filming locations

The first film being produced as part of government’s deal with Pinewood Studios could raise a million pounds for the local economy.

Filming on the period drama Belle started yesterday (Monday) in Castletown.

It’s being directed by BAFTA award winner Amma Asante and produced by Damian Jones and features some well known British actors.

Filming will take around three weeks with the forecasted million pounds being raised through money spent by the cast and crew.
