Only 36 per cent of businesses have calculated their carbon footprint, according to a Chamber of Commerce survey.
However, 60 per cent that responded say they've seen an increase in staff engagement in implementing a sustainability policy.
The survey had 89 respondents from across 18 sectors, ranging from the self employed to businesses with over 100 employees.
Data found that the top challenges faced are making buildings more sustainable and lack of government support.
