Peel Group becomes Southern 100 sponsor

It's been confirmed an established Island firm will become a key sponsor for one of the Islands major motor racing events.

The Southern 100 Races have announced that The Peel Group will support 'the friendly races' from next year when officials hope the occasion can return.

Chairman of the company, John Whittaker, says: "As a keen admirer of the Southern 100 over many years, I am delighted that The Peel Group is supporting this event, which not only attracts top-level road racing talent to the Isle of Man but also provides a major tourism boost for the local economy.

"I am very much looking forward to the return of road racing to the Billown Circuit in 2021."

Meanwhile, Southern 100 Club Chairman and Race Secretary, George Peach, adds: "We are absolutely delighted that The Peel Group have joined us as a sponsor of our races.

"Their support in what has been and still is a devastating year with the Covid-19 pandemic is a major boost in confidence for the club and the races which have been running since 1955."

The 2020 occasion, which was due to be held from July 6-9 this year was called off in March due the Coronavirus pandemic but there are plans to host the contests from July 12-15, 2021.

New dates have also already been proposed by the Pre and Post-TT races on the Billown Course from May 28-31 and on June 12 next year respectively.
