Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas says the government will be looking into why men are paid so much more than women.
In Tynwald this week he faced a question from Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper about why the last earnings survey showed a wide disparity between pay for men and women.
Mr Thomas said it was something the government was concerned about and would be investigating.
But he said the issue wasn't a simple one:
