Manx Utilities has agreed a deal with Swedish energy group - Vattenfall, to provide them with flexible trading opportunities.
Chair of Manx Utilities, Dr Alex Allinson, says the contract will give his organisation access to expertise on new technology so they can fulfill commitments to address climate change.
Vattenfall's 'Flex Expert' model gives the Island energy supplier the ability to buy and sell power in advance.
Dr Allinson added the new partnership will help enhance future opportunities.
