The Department of Economic Development says it works with professional organisations to make sure money it pays for sponsorship and hospitality is spent wisely.
In the House of Keys this week, DED Minister Lawrence Skelly faced questions from Onchan MHK Julie Edge on the subject.
Mr Skelly said the department follows the government's financial regulations when it sponsors events such as TT or IsleExpo.
And he added the department looks for partnerships with recognised organisations when it's involved in off-Island events:
