New rules being discussed by Tynwald next month could see floating wind turbines added to the Island's ship registry in future.
When the court sits in June, Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston will ask members to back changes to the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003.
The update would mean mobile offshore renewable units could be added to the ship register in the same way as conventional vessels.
It would mean the Isle of Man could take advantage of a growth in offshore wind turbines, floating tidal generators and floating offshore substations.
