Election Special: Rushen candidates talk business

The Isle of Man’s General Election takes place on September 22nd – one of the hot topics ahead of the vote is the state of the Island’s economy.

In the Business News today we’re hearing from the candidates standing in the constituency of Rushen.

First up is Leo Cussons – he lives in Peel but owns a business in Port Erin and says government must make financial decisions more understandable:

James Hampton is also hoping to take one of the two seats available in the constituency – he believes the next administration needs to find out what the public actually want:

Teacher Mark Kemp is hoping he’ll be successful on Election Day – he says his main priority would be changing how the Budget is formulated:

Former Rushen MHKs Laurence Skelly and Juan Watterson are both hoping to keep their seats.

Mr Skelly says a strong economy will mean a strong Island:

Mr Watterson says he believes dealing with the implications of Brexit will need careful consideration:
