The Department for Enterprise says it doesn't know how many AirBnbs are on the Isle of Man.
Those who sign up to offer accommodation under the website have to register with the department.
But in response to a Freedom of Information request, it says it doesn't differentiate between AirBnb and any other tourism registration and so doesn't have any specific figures.
A search of the AirBnb website suggests there are almost 270 such properties on the Island.
