Stronger powers against Coronavirus introduced

Stronger legal powers to protect the public against Coronavirus have been introduced on the Isle of Man.

The new regulations, which came into force last week, allow emergency measures to be put in place if the virus poses an imminent threat to health.

The increased measures are designed to reduce the risk of the virus being spread from one person to another by keeping people in isolation where health professionals believe there's a reasonable risk that someone has the illness.

So far, 14 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out on Island which have all come back negative - the overall risk to the population remains at 'moderate' and the risk to individuals is 'low'.

The government's dedicated coronavirus page is updated daily at www.gov.im/coronavirus.
