Chief Minister Coronavirus announcements summary

This year's TT has been cancelled, people aged 70 and over should self-isolate and anyone travelling to the Island must go into quarantine for two weeks as of 23:59 tomorrow.

They are just some of the statements made by the Chief Minister in a press briefing this afternoon.

He confirmed the Island's TT 2020 has been called off to protect the Island's critical care services.

Meanwhile, schools will remain open, testing in the community will be stepped up and local elections will be postponed.

Officials are advising against any non-essential travel off Island, but the government will not be placing any restrictions on public gatherings.

He said a packet of measures will be introcued by the treasury to protect the Island's economy and workforce.

He said action has been taken to protect residents and ensure life can continue as normal as possible in this unpredictable time.
