Cancer treatments to be reviewed

All ongoing cancer treatments are now being reviewed case-by-case amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

Health professionals are assessing each one as hospitals rearrange services to protect patients from infection and reduce attendances, which could mean some treatment plans would be changed, suspended or stopped altogether.

Meanwhile, those going to the Oncology Unit for an appointment are now being asked to call the ward from their car before entering the building and those without appointments are being told not to attend at all.

Anyone with questions about their treatment plan is asked to contact their clinical nurse specialist, or to contact their GP as usual if they have concerns about potential symptoms of cancer.
